Petition to Outlaw Police Self-Investigations

On the next page is a printable version of a petition to have police self-investigations outlawed throughout all of Canada. You can copy & paste it into a word processor and collect signatures on your own. This is a link to the rules regarding petitioning found on the Government of Canada website.

This is not a petition against police but rather one that will make it safer for a good cop to be a good cop. When police investigate themselves, good officers are not permitted to tell the truth about their fellow officer's crimes without fear of retaliation.

There can be no trust by the taxpaying public of its police forces when police are allowed to investigate themselves. It is an inherent conflict of interest, by anyone's standards. Being honest is a challenge for our police members when we allow police to investigate themselves. Let's change that and make a safer atmosphere in which the good, brave men and women of Canada can be good, honest officers. Let's give them the ability to tell the truth in safety.

One need not be a citizen to sign a petition, but one must be a resident of Canada. Please sign your name, with your city and provincial initial. Feel free to print out a copy and collect signatures on your own. You can sign a printed copy of this petition or click here to sign it online. There is a box for adding a comment when you sign online, however it is not permitted to leave comments on a printed petition.
